Developing Reporting Applications, Version 7 Release 7.03 > Chapter 5 - Managing Flow of Control in an Application > Enhancing an HTML Web Page With a Procedure > Enhancing an HTML Web Page With a Procedure:
quote:
How to Refer to an External Web Page From a Procedure -HTMLFORM filename
Note: HTML Composer design time is not meant to be used with this construct and if used, the tool may not work as expected and will not be supported.
If you use separate HTML files, you cannot use Dialogue Manager commands and variables in the file. However, the WebFOCUS escape sequences, described in Including Variables in an HTML Web Page on page 377, can be used.
OK, what about this construct - no variables and no other WebFOCUS stuff - why would this not be supported?
If all you are doing is using the FEX to select the page to run, it seems ok. However, if you plan to do Save Selection, for example, it will not work since Save Selection uses an HTML page, and -HTMLFORM uses a FEX. Basically, you need to be limiting and careful if you want to mix -HTMLFORM and HTML Composer. We have found that everything that -HTMLFORM can do, we can do in HTML Composer without using -HTMLFORM.
