It seems that the wildcard functionality is not working in WF8 as it did in WF7. So, I'm not sure, yet, if this is a real issue, or just a seeting someplace which needs to be tweaked. Either way, I need to verify that statement before I finalize my thoughts on this issue. It is stated as being available in WF8 (see help info below).
WF7: APP DELETEF edwsorep IBIT* PDF deletes all pdf files which start with IBIT, the case is irrelevant.
WF8: APP DELETEF edwsorep IBIT0002 PDF does not delete any pdf files which start with IBIT, in either upper or lower case.
I do have a work around for this which will runs in the matter of seconds. But, I want to see if it's a WebFOCUS 8 issue before I consider that route.
Here's what F! Help has to say about it: Syntax: How to Delete an Application Component Manually APP DELETEF[ILE] app[/appna...] {filename|*} filetype where:
appn[/appa...] Is the application from which the component or component type is being deleted. Nested application names are supported.
filename Is the name of the component to be deleted. Use an asterisk (*) to delete all files of type filetype.
filetype Is the component type, in uppercase, of the component to be deleted.

OK then, after 88 views, no replies, and my other post, I'm going to closed this and use the Unix rm command executed directly from our scheduler, as a work around, instead of a fex. I understand that I can rewrite this usiong various APP commands. But, for a change, I'm going to use something other the WebFOCUS to get the job done.
