Correct me if I'm wrong: WebFOCUS doesn't seem to be able to pass customizable Excel formatting text into Excel output.

If this is true, I'd really like to have this feature in WebFOCUS 8.

For example, we can use report style to set Excel format:

...
TYPE=DATA, COLUMN=N1, XLS_FORMAT='$#,##0_);[Red]($#,##0)',$
...

With such a feature, formatting in Excel will be much more fun!

7.66 and 7.704
System: Windows / AIX / Linux
Output: Mostly HTML, with some PDF, Excel and Lotus(!)

You will need to request an NFR thought Techsupport.

This is the official path.

Have you tried all the STYLESHET options in WebFOCUS ?

There are workarounds for this issue in EXL2K, not sure about EXL07 though.

Waz...

Waz, do you mean a work around for just this particular format, or any Excel format text? Can you elaborate? Thanks.

This technique sacrifices a column to allow you to enter the format you want.

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
COMPUTE MyNumber/P20.2 = DECODE SEATS(2 1234.56 ELSE -3210.98) ;
COMPUTE ColFormat/A200 = '</td><td align=right x:num x:fmla=''='
                      || LJUST(20,PTOA(MyNumber,'(P20.2)','A20'),'A20')
                      || ''' style=''font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"ARIAL";text-align:right;mso-number-format:"\#\,\#\#0\.00\;\[Red\]\\\(\#\,\#\#0\.00\\\)";''>0.00' ;

BY COUNTRY
BY SEATS
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=TITLE, COLOR=NAVY, STYLE=BOLD+UNDERLINE, $
TYPE=REPORT, TITLETEXT='Testing', $
END

But

Why not just use the Stylesheet ?

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
COMPUTE MyNumber/P20.2BC = DECODE SEATS(2 1234.56 ELSE -3210.98) ;

BY COUNTRY
BY SEATS
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=TITLE, COLOR=NAVY, STYLE=BOLD+UNDERLINE, $
TYPE=REPORT, TITLETEXT='Testing', $
TYPE=DATA, COLUMN=MyNumber, WHEN = MyNumber LT 0, COLOR=RED, $
END
