Hi,

I want to add users in WebFocus programmatically from ASP.NET applications. Because my requirement is, when i register a user for my .NET application, that user should be added to WebFocus users list. Same has to happen if i edit the user info. Do we have any APIs or utilities available to achieve this.

Your help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Regards,
Ananthi

Yes, See your other post about .NET intergration. I am Assuming you are using MRE/UAS/BID, One thing that you might want to investagate is using an external repository for you user Authentication & Authorization.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. Your assumption is right. We are developing BI product.

Let me tell you what the requirements are:
1) Programatically manage (add/edit) users from within ASP.NET application.
2) Need Single Sign-On Authentication to users who tries to access Webfocus. As users are stored in db, i need this single sign-on feature to verify the users from db.
3) Based on the user priveleges, needs to secure access to the dashboards in Webfocus.

Looking forward to help me more in this.

Regards,
Ananthi

While this forum is very good at providing information to and from developers. When it comes to security that is a very site spacific subject, because each site may have different requirements and demands. I would suggest you contact your local IBI branch. IBI has a very good Security Group that can help in the intergration of WebFOCUS Security to meet your needs. Sorry I can not provide any additional suggestions, I don't want to point you down the wrong path or provide any incorrect information.

Go to http://www.informationbuilders.com and hover over "The Company" in the top menu and then select "Worldwide Offices" for a map of the world.

Click on the country you require and you will find hotlinks to IB Partners.

You probably have someone in your Company that has had contact with your local support people to request upgrades etc.

Ananthi,

The functionality you're looking for is available in WebFOCUS Web Services. You can call the different WebFOCUS funtions from a .Net application by utilitizing Web Services.

Ananthi,

In addition to the links suggested in another topic regarding ASP.NET, I tried to search on documents/manuals and figured that these manuls about Web Services may be of interest:

WebFOCUS Web Services Version 7.1 manual (DN4500715.0505)

or

WebFOCUS Web Services Version 5.3 manual (DN4500609.0904).

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Smiler

Kerry
