Hi,
I have to extract data like this for a report:
Table file demography has employee ids and their names...
I have another table id which has
emp id, manager id.
Now i need both the employee name as well as the manager name. How do i reference the same table file in a join?

At the top of this screen you should be able to see "search the Technical Documentation Library" icon.
Click on it and look for information on the JOIN topic.

Assuming it's not how to do joins that is the issue, but that you want both information bits, I think you'll have to do two passes

join emp_id in base to emp_id in id as j1
Table file base
...
hold
end

join manager_id in base to emp_id in id as j2
table file base
...
hold
end
join the hold files etc.

Sketchy at most but you get the idea.

Something like this:

join emp_id in base to emp_id in id tag t1 as j1
join manager_id in base to emp_id in id tag t2 as j2

table file base
print
emp_id
t1.emp_name
manager_id
t2.emp_name as 'man_name'
on table set asnames on
on table hold
end
