How can I set an user from WebFOCUS to access ONLY certain folder in Server>EDASERVE>Application ?This message has been edited. Last edited by: nox,
I can help you with this but I need to know do you only want them to have access to these specific folders or do you want them to be able to create synonyms and other objects in them.
Thank you for using Focal Point!

Yes I need your help, I want user able to access certain folder/s and able to create synonyms and other objects as well, BUT only within those folder/s that user is authorized with. So what should I try on?
From the Reporting Server console on the Access Control panel Right mouse click on the Application Administrator and choose Register User then click on the Manual radio button and fill in the user, description, email, and password fields. If you are using LDAP I don't think you need the password part. There is a tab labeled Directory/File privildeges uncheck the boxes in the apps line and then check all the boxes for all the app folders you want them to have access to. Then click on the user registration tab and click add and register.

Thank you for your advice, but the user I registered is only apply when using webFOCUS server NOT in App Studio. Somehow I login the same user that registered(only some application directory privilege) in webFOCUS to App Studio, and that user still able to see EVERYTHING in webFOCUS server(EDASERVE) which is not what I wanted.
In order to create report in App Studio, user at-least set privilege as 'Developer' group in 'Security Center'.
any other idea how to control user in App Studio can access certain directory ONLY?
I am not sure what went wrong for you, when I log in to App Studio with the user I set up I only see the application folder I authorized. Make sure the app studio environment properties for the user are the correct ID. Also make sure under the access control tab in reporting server console for that user that the apps line items are all NOT checked.

1. the user you setup for App Studio to login, did you create that user within webFOCUS 'Security Center'? If not, where did that user create?
2. what setting did you have for your 'Environment Properties' in App Studio? Mine was: Web Component: Host Name/ IP Address: [my webFocus machine IP] Protocol: HTTP Port: 8080
WebFOCUS: nothing change
Data Servers: Nothing change
3. How can we prevent user to change Environments from Configure Tab at Home panel?
