Danny-SRLLaVonne,
Do you have a file with ALL the locations? If so, you could MATCH it with your data file to have that extra record.

LaVonneYes, I do have a file with all the locations so I could identify which location is missing data but ReportCaster will not allow 2 bursting reports in one fex. Also, I can't have 2 RC jobs with the exact same name and if the name is different it creates a separate entry in the Library. I tried the 'post run' of a second fex thru RC and that didn't work because they were both burst jobs and it was not allowed.
I'm just wondering if anyone has actually figured out how to do this and if they are using it and its working. Set emptyreport = on doesn't work with burst either.
Thanks all! LaVonne

LaVonneJust to make anyone who looks at this aware....as so often happens with me....the minute I ask the question, I figure it out.
In any case, I did figure it out...to summarize, I matched my last hold file to my file containing ALL the locations and held the results 'old-or-new'.
Then I did a some defines...one to identify the valid locations (the ones with data could be identified because my NEW last hold file would have 2 matching location fields) and one to identify the locations without data (these would only have the location field from the file which contained ALL locations).
Now that I could identify these 2 record types (so to speak) it was just a matter of creating the report. It runs and bursts just the way I wanted - SEAMLESSLY - creating reports that say, 'NO DATA FOR THIS LOCATION TODAY' for the locations that have no data to report for that run of the job.
As is usually the case, now that its done, it seems so simple...why didn't I think of this ages ago!
Thanks just the same. LaVonne

Danny-SRLLaVonne,
It is a very common question:
Why does one always find what one is searching for in the last place one is looking at?
Nonetheless, it is much better that YOU found the answer on your own...
