I'm migrating a daily file creation process from MS Access into WebFOCUS.
The current process: 1. Select all records where the "Send" field equals 1. 2. Save the records resulting from #1 to a TABT output. 3. Update all the records where the "Send" field is equal to 1, so that they equal 0.
Will the MODIFY command allow me to update the field values in a data source table from my WebFOCUS query code?This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,
I would assume it's just MS Access since that's what he's migrating from. For updating flat files (which is rare because there's usually a better way), just redefine the field and output (i.e. SAVE) it again.

Darin

It is a MS Access Back-End database, that I have migrated the tables up to SQL Server so that I can connect them to WebFOCUS.
I then take the data from the table records, and build a text file as the final output that gets sent to a vendor.
So I'm hoping that I can use WebFOCUS to update the boolean field (it is actually just numeric that stores a 0 or a 1) in the table record to indicate that the record has been sent to the vendor.
If its just a numeric, then this should be simple.
You do need to make sure that your connection to access is updateable.
It would be along the lines of:
TABLE FILE ..
COMUPTE BOOL/I1 = 1;
BY KEY
WHERE {Remove other values not to be updated}
ON TABLE HOLD AS LOADFILE
END
MODIFY FILE ..
FIXFORM FROM LOADFILE
MATCH KEY
ON MATCH UPDATE BOOL
ON NOMATCH REJECT
DATA ON LOADFILE
END
