[CLOSED] Freeing up unused space after a REBUILD
Hi, how do I release the unused space after a REBUILD REBUILD or a REBUILD REORG.

You may have to do a REBUILD DUMP and REBUILD LOAD, as I don't think the REBUILD and REORG options delete the FOC file.

The spaces taken by a FOCUS db is not automatically reclaimed.

You can backup the FOCUS db, issue a REBUILD REORG DUMP, delete the FOCUS db, issue USE and CREATE FILE, and then issue a REBUILD REORG LOAD.

Thanks for the answers but my problem is that I don't seem to be able to delete the file between the DUMP & LOAD steps. ERASE doesn't work. Is there another way of physically deleting a file from within a procedure.

Are you using the FDS for this file?
Have you tried APP DELETEF?

Hi again

the answer for Alan is not that I know of and yes I have also tried APP DELETEF which also didn't work.

The answer for Waz is Unix box under z/OS

APP DELETEF should work, have you tried ! rm {path+filename} ?

Also do you get an error, and if so what is it ?
