I don't know as there is a way to do a block comment without the '-*' on every line. I think this goes way back to the days of when FOCUS had some FORTRAN under the covers if my rumor mill serves me correctly. Leah | |||

The only way to do this is to use -GOTO to skip around the code. The following example will skip the BY phrases. TABLE FILE CAR PRINT RCOST DCOST SALES -GOTO SKIPSORT BY COUNTRY BY CAR BY MODEL BY BODYTYPE -SKIPSORT END Thanks! Mickey

Glad I wasn't the only one wondering about this. Seems a little silly that you have to type -* for each line. I understand the use of GOTO would work, but in some cases if there are amper variables or whatever in that code you may not want those even parsed. If you have prompt for variables on, then it will prompt for that amper (even if it's never referenced in any of the code that is being executed). I also think it would be more effective to have it commented out because at least to me, if I visually see it commented out, that tells me, oh that code is not in use. Where if you are just scanning a fex, you might not see the goto that passes a particular block of code and leads to confusion. I have seen other IDEs offer a shortcut key (or menu item) where you can highlight multiple lines of code and then comment (or uncomment) them all out. In this case it would put a -* in front of all of them (or take it out). Hmm, maybe I'll log an enhancement request...... Kalyan, Don't expect it without requesting a New Feature Request (NFR) which you would have to do via the tech support pages. Myself, I can't see the addition be made  T

Just logged my NFR -- I would encourage other to do the same. Mine specifically requested the ability to do comment blocks /* comment */ and the ability to highlight and comment or uncomment the entire section via keystroke or menu item. Good luck with your NFR! I can't see how this will work. If you will be able to use Dev Studio to highlight several lines of code to comment them, how will Dev Studio do this when looking at the report via the GUI interface?
