Hi,

I have a requirement to create a report(single report) connecting to two different types of databases (Oracle & MS SQl-Server) and compare the database between the tables in each database and find the differences. Can you please advise if it is possible.

Thanks

It is possible but not advisable. What you are trying to do is called a heterogeneous join which means that WebFOCUS has to do it. It is often better if you extract the data from each, put the target in a FOCUS file, then do a join.

Or maybe MATCH would work better for you depending upon your requirements.

As Ginny says, it's possible but not advisable.

You can use the normal join techniques. Be aware that field formats should match.

Another option is DB lookup if you want to get a single field from the other database.

How many rows do you have to compare?

Test: WF 8.2
Prod: WF 8.2
DB: Progress, REST, IBM UniVerse/UniData, SQLServer, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Greenplum, Athena.

The rows to compare could be 100+. I will try DB lookup too.

Thanks
