Here eeid stored multi times. What is my problem i want retrive the eeid detail in one time only look like a EEID ETYPE ETXT 101 EEMAIL1 raja@hhh.com 102 EEMAIL1 kumar@jjj.com 103 104 EEMAIL1 lal@yyy.com
i try to retrive the data using Where condition (ETYPE = 'EEMAIL1') that time what happend 103 detail not displayed. Then i remove the condition all records are displayed now how to solve this problem Please tell me soltion.
Thanks Mr Alan B Correct it has two segments, eeid is parent part and etype is child part Once again say to thanks to you But i can't understood What is that SET ALL=PASS SET NODATA='' If you free, please give a brief explanation
When FOCUS displays a field when it has not got a value, FOCUS will show a full stop (.). The NODATA parameter tells FOCUS what you want to display instead of the full stop. In your example EEID of 103 has no ETYPE or ETXT, that is it has no data for the segment of ETYPE and would place a full stop instead of a blank. Try it without this setting and with different values for it.
When the SET ALL parameter is set to OFF and FOCUS is asked to report a parent and child, as in your case, and the child does not exist, as in EEID of 103, neither the parent or missing child will be displayed. When ALL is set to ON, missing segments are shown if a sceening condition (WHERE or IF) is not used on the segment where the missing child is. When ALL is set to PASS, missing segments are included in the report regardless of the screening conditions. That is the missing segment is said to PASS any screening conditions applied to it.
In fact in my example, out of habit I used: WHERE ETYPE EQ 'EEMAIL1' OR ' ' which I use for clarity (!) whereas it should really be WHERE ETYPE EQ 'EEMAIL1' the missing segment instance being forced to pass the screening condition on ETYPE.
If you use the GUI, the set parameters are found by clicking the light switch icon, and valid values are given.
(I find explaining SET ALL like describing the off-side rule in soccer!)
