I'd stick with the APP DELETEF because then you generally don't need to know OS specific commands. If you migrate from windows to UNIX your DELETEF commands will still work. Check out the following url for meore options with APP commands...
The APP commands are very handy, but I find the documentation too brief.
For example, to delete files in an APP folder, run this command:
APP DELETEF[ILE] app1 fn1 ft1 - Deletes the file within the application app1 with filename=fn1 and filetype=ft1.
The valid filetypes appear to not be documented anywhere. Through trial and error, I have determined two valid filetypes (case sensitive, and not the file suffix): HTML and MASTER.
Is this documented anywhere, and if not, what are the valid filetypes? I cannot determine the filetype for .ftm files
