Using cars for an example my inventory data looks like this:

Model 4 Door 2 Door Jan 14

Jaguar JG4DRSE 3
Jaguar JG2DRCO 2

I want an output like this:

Model Sedan Coupe
Jaguar 3 2

I tried:

COMPUTE Sedan/I3= IF 4Door IS MISSING THEN O ELSE 1; AS #Seden
COMPUTE Coupe/I3= IF 2Door IS MISSING THEN O ELSE 1; AS #Coupe

The computed columns are blank and I was expecting a 1 so I could count them.

You can't be using the CAR file because 4Door and 2Door are not fields in the CAR file, whilst "SEDAN" and "COUPE" are values of BODYTYPE...

DEFINE FILE CAR
SEDAN/P6 MISSING ON = IF BODYTYPE EQ 'SEDAN' THEN 1 ELSE MISSING;
COUPE/P6 MISSING ON = IF BODYTYPE EQ 'COUPE' THEN 1 ELSE MISSING;
END

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
CNT.SEDAN
CNT.COUPE
BY COUNTRY
END

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT *
END

Thanks. I was just using car types 4door 3door to describe my data.
