I am trying to use DBA security on the car db. This is running as a self service app. There are 3 drop down variables COUNTRY, CAR, and MODEL that are chained together. The variables are dynamically populated from the car db. I would like for the values that appear in the drop downs to be controlled by the dba security. How do I set the user value before the html page runs?
SET USER = EDAUSER2 TABLE FILE CAR SUM SALES BY COUNTRY BY CAR BY MODEL END
I think it is more important that the focexec you are eventually running against the secure file be governed by the DBA password. With that said, this is what I would do:
1. Write a focexec to populate the chained boxes, put the DBA password in it, and encrypt this focexec.
2. Reference the fex in #1 when setting up the controls in the HTML painter.
3. Put a text box on the launch page to prompt for the DBA password.
4. In the report focexec, set the DBA password to the variable you are prompting for in #3.
To my mind, it doesn't matter (it might to you) if the dropdowns get populated; just that the focexec won't run unless the user knows the DBA password.
An other solution might be that you create a table with the loginid and the usercode. create an include fex that reads the usercode and sets the password.
I can post that fex if you want.
