The first and second calls to gettok don't give me any errors but when I try to do it within the context of a report I get errors.

My question is this... is there any way to take an amper variable and bring it into a report?

Secondly, if it is more complicated than either of the attempts below... why?



-SET &MY_PARAMETER = '-2-270-';
-SET &DATA1 = GETTOK(&MY_PARAMETER , 7, 1, '-', 2, 'A2');
-SET &DATA1 = GETTOK(&MY_PARAMETER , 7, 2, '-', 3, 'A3');
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
COMPUTE DATA1_FROM_AMPER/A2 = &DATA1;
COMPUTE DATA1_FROM_GETTOK/A2 = GETTOK(&MY_PARAMETER , 7, 1, '-', 2, 'A2');
WHERE READLIMIT EQ '2';
END

Hi George,

In Chapter 10 of the Creating Reports With WebFOCUS Language 5.3 (DN4500580.0904) manual, there is an example titled "Creating Parameters By Specifying an Amper Variable." This example can be found in the section titled "Creating Parameters."

George, when you reference an &var inside ordinary focus code, you need to enclose it in single quotes.

GETTOK appears to skip leading Delimiters; you get the same result with '2-270-', or even '--2-270-'.
