Hi,

I have a question on logging in the information based on the user activity.

Example: when a user runs a report, the log file should record the report name, time run, more important the filter conditions applied...

like year = 2008 , card_number = 234566

and is there any tool to parse the log file?

Your help is really appreciated.

Thanks,
Amarnath

To log that information you need Resource Analyzer.

(Prod: WebFOCUS 7.7.03: Win 2008 & AIX hub/Servlet Mode; sub: AS/400 JDE; mostly Self Serve; DBs: Oracle, JDE, SQLServer; various output formats)

Last year at the IBI Summit in Nashville we have got a presentation from someone who designed what you are looking for.
It's not an out of the box solution, but in fact you have to create this yourself.
You can use several input variables and system parameters and use them as input for a logging.
Design your (focus) database for this and create a separate applications that is included in your fexes.
Use the &myUser, &FOCFEXNAME, &YYMD, &TOD and a few report variables.
Since these last ones are different for every report you may want to put them in a long string that gives both the variable and the value that the user has chosen.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with the MODIFY command, but that is the basic for this.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your advice.

By any chance have you got any link to that presentation?

the process he presented is not exactly what I described, but it is the first step and you have to work it out further.

The Resource Analyzer table SMRELATIONS has the IF/WHERE conditions for a query.
