[CLOSED] User Level Access for Live Reports
Is it possible to to provide user access to their informat only form Live database:
For example
I have 5 car stores,
Detroit, Chicago,NY, LA, & London

I want Chicago Manager to only access Chicago data and parametscreen only show models that are available in Chicago. NY should see NY, LA should see LA.
I know there is got to be a way to pass user ID to the system to show only user related data to user.
Also, when I want to publish graph on dashboard, user should only see data realted to their store.
I know I could do access list bursting for library reports, but can I do same sort of security for live database?

Hi,

You could do this using DBA restriction at the Master File level.
Lookup for information on DBA file ..

thanks

Is there something you can implement in your database platform directly? For instance, Oracle allows for the creation of Virtual Private Databases which provide access to certain domains of information on a user/role level. That way, your users can only access what they're allowed to, even if they use tools other than your WebFOCUS environment (such as accessing the database from Excel).

It's just a thought, of course. It all depends on your infrastructure and security policies your company can (or is willing to) implement.

The DBA options is probably the best, you will have to set a DBA password for each user type.

I assume that you have the id of who is running the reports ?
