Graph problem for displaying huge data!
Hi all

Currently I have a problem for the webfocus graph( line ,pillar). I want to use SQL get the dataset from the DB and display the datas on the graph.

Problem:
A small amount of data will be normally displayed on the graph, However, when the grpah display a large number of data, there will be problems and graph will show nothing.

I wonder maybe there are some limit graph displaying. Somebody can help me ?

thanks,

Alex.

Graphs are being created with the java applets. And these have problems handling huge amounts of data.
My work-around would be to find some way to group the data into more manageable amounts of information and have a drilldown on each group. That way you can do a high level aggregation and drill down into the detail information easily.

Hope this helps ...

I believe the limit is actually 255 records for a graph.. I ran into this issue before. I actually created an edit for my report that said, if &RECORDS GT 255 display a message "Too many records, Please refine search"..something to that nature. Or like GamP mentioned, you may need to summarize your data differently.

I don't know if there really IS a limit on number of records. I have never heard anything of this sort. But I do have graphs that work with many hundreds or thousands of records. So I don't believe number of records is the problem. Maybe an issue with the type of graph used or other settings like GRMERGE, max values, scale, etc.

Darin
