Hi,

I need some help over the usage of EX command.

I want to run a fex file using EX command by passing parameters and i want to capture the output returned by the fex file. Is it possible?

Please advice. If not possible using EX, is there any other technique?

Thanks,
Amarnath

You can look up the syntax of the EX command in the language manual.

However, if you want the output (what kind?), you might want to consider doing a -INCLUDE instead. Otherwise you'd have to save the output in FOCCACHE or something like that.

Hi,

I want to pass a value like |FROMTO|01012009|01062009| to a fex file and i want it to return 2 values like fromdate and todate.

Can i capture these 2 values returned by the fex file?

As Ginny says use -INCLUDE
That way you do not have to pass variables and the generated output is available directly for you to do a -READ.

Very basic and full documented with many examples on the forum for you to search for.

Can you put the parameters in a file and do the -INCLUDE as part of a -REPEAT/-READ loop?
