The following CAR File example only adds a red border to the top of the heading. I have tried to add reference to a border for the Right, Left, and Bottom but it still only appears at the top of the heading. If I add a border for the entire Heading it will display a 4 sided border around the entire Heading but I would like to add a Border for TABLE FILE CAR

I don't think borders are very well implemented, so I'd be surprised that putting a border on one line of a heading is going to work. Francis  Give me code, or give me retirement. For a more controlable experience with Excel use templates and VBA. As Francis says, the implementation in WF is not entirely satisfactory. T

Thank you for the input. A portion of my request was removed when I posted this earlier... If I add a border for the entire Heading it will display a 4 sided border around the entire Heading but I would like to add a Border for HEAD2 and HEAD3 in this report...Any Ideas? You can use -HTMLFORM and the CLASS StyleSheet parameter with an external style sheet to style your headings.

Dan, That seems to be what I am looking for and trying to accomplish within my report. I would imagine I can turn on the Grid Lines to make it look more like a standard Excel Spreadsheet. Francis and Tony thanks for your input also. I will have to investigate the use of Templates and VBA for this type of report in the future. I think Dan's idea is really good and works, except I am a little worried about those grid lines - I am surprised that this method eliminates the Excel cell grid (which is not the Excel Border property). At first I thought the cells had a white background (Excel Fill property), which causes the cell grid to disappear, but this is not the case. Francis Give me code, or give me retirement. ERINP's original post turned off the grid, which I didn't change. You can turn on the grid lines with GRID=ON. The extra right-hand column that shows up with GRID=ON can be eliminated by removing the space in the HEADING after HEAD3: HEADING "<HEAD1 <HEAD2 <HEAD3"This message has been edited. Hey Dan, This seemed to work while dealing with the Car File From our AS400 but when I try to use it in/from MRE it doesn't seem to work in the same manner. I have tried to get it to work but it seems to ignore the class = headstyle attributes and it wants to display the report as HTML within the Excel Sheet. Is this typical behavior? How can I use the same type of code and get it to work in/from MRE? Is there a way to tell Excel that Numeric values should be treated as character/text values? And the output looked the same in all four versions. Ensure you have a -RUN after the HTMLFORMTYPE command. Perhaps the HTMLFORMTYPE does not work in your environment. I don't know. I haven't tried it; have you? As Francis notes in the thread, Excel grid lines can be an issue with this approach. Since you are using a newer version of WebFOCUS, maybe use of the BORDER attribute in the StyleSheet, as ERINP initially tried, is working in the new version. WebFOCUS 7.7.05 | |||
