[SOLVED] APP Studio - ALL option
If I have an HTML page with drop downs/combo box and I choose to have an "ALL" option. If the HTML page executes a report. What value gets passed from the combobox/drop down to the report if the "ALL" option is selected?

We use FOC_NONE in out HTML pages, not _FOC_NULL.

This is the value that is selected for ALL.

For us it isn't sent at all.

Not sure what _FOC_NULL does.

I would suggest using your browsers developer tools to check the calls made and see what is passed.

Matt B,

Welcome to Focal Point. Hope Waz's answer helped you out.

Can I ask you to please update your profile so that we know what version of the WebFOCUS product you are using?
This will make it easier for members to provide assistance specific to the version you are using.

There is a difference between FOC_NONE and _FOC_NULL.
It all depends on the report and what you are trying to achieve. In your situation, if the option of "ALL" is added into the HTML then _FOC_NULL is passed to the report. This is the same as ignoring the specific variable being passed.

FOC_NONE is used to eliminate the entire statement that contains this variable.

Although, code generally is avoided in the InfoAssist here is an example with each of the above.

If a decision statement contains FOC_NONE, the statement will not be added to
the FOCSTACK ( internal memory ) and therefore will not be processed. For example:
-DEFAULT &COUNTRY='FOC_NONE'
-*DEFAULT &COUNTRY='_FOC_NULL'
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT CAR
WHERE (COUNTRY EQ '&COUNTRY') AND (COUNTRY EQ 'JAPAN')
END

1) While using FOC_NONE, the entire WHERE statement line is removed and we will
see all of the records

2) While using _FOC_NULL, only COUNTRY EQ '&COUNTRY' is TRUE. We also see cars
in JAPAN when using the AND statement.

Hope this clarifies the difference between FOC_NONE and _FOC_NULL.
