Execute the -? & command to view a list of existing Dialogue Manager variables and their values. Unfortunately, the variable name truncates at 12 characters and the value truncates at 61 characters.
Execute the -? & SAVEPRINT command to view the list of existing Dialogue Manager variables and their values at their complete lengths. An additional feature of this command is that it shows if the variable was created by a -DEFAULT or a -SET (though -DEFAULTH and -DEFAULT both show as -DEFAULT). An oddity of this command is that it does not show all system variables, just some (but that's a minor quibble).
This tidbit was part of Rob Palmer's presentation "Things You Can Use on Monday: Part 4" and was brought back to us by one of my colleagues. I'm aching to see what else is in this presentation.
That one, along with DB_EXPR and FORMAT SQL_SCRIPT presented by Renee Teatro are thus far my favourite bits of "new stuff" from Summit 2013.
Rob also showed this rather welcomed addition:
SET DROPBLNKLINE=HEADING
I had big hopes on that one and it would have actually been my top favourite among them all as it provides the means to get rid of that annoying automatic blank line that gets added between the HEADING and report body when using BORDER in a report stylesheet. Well, it does work but only for PDF output!! . Why didn't they implement it for HTML and EXL2K/EXL07 is beyond me but hopefully someday it will be there.
I'm sure many more favourite tips will come to light when going through the presentation material later on.
Now all we need is to be on 7.7.05M to start taking advantage of many of this but that's a different story This message has been edited. Last edited by: njsden,
