[CLOSED] FOC36207??
A colleague is getting a (FOC36207) DECIMAL OVERFLOW--FIELD SET TO MAXIMUM

My manual is not showing this message. Can someone tell me what it means? We are running Focus 7.1.1 under ZOS/TSO on an IBM mainframe Eeker

this is what I get when I query the error number -

During an aggregation (SUM), the result of an ADD DECIMAL instruction exceeded the capacity of the field. The magnitude of the field has been set to 99...99 (the sign is unchanged) and the corresponding count has been frozen.

Seems like your field is too small to hold the result.

Big Grin I guess I could have done that. Thanks for the info.

Nine Years later I don't know if Kiddpete is still around.

As Tred said in the post.
Seems like your field is too small to hold the result.

Increase the size of your result field.

I had the pleasure to work with Kidd Pete many years in Chicago. Kidd Pete has indeed 'hung up his spurs', and is enjoying retirement.

His post was a long time ago, I *think* it might have been that at the time, large packed fields were not quite supported yet, or at least in all scenarios.
