FOCUS for zSeries to IBM Cognos sounds more like a conversion effort than a migration effort. You might want level set expectations at your shop, if folks there are looking at this task as a migration.
If folks at your shop are looking for something somewhat closer to a migration effort, maybe consider going from FOCUS for zSeries to WebFOCUS?
Yeah MartinY "I'm pretty sure that nobody here will help you moving out from FOCUS..." Cetrainly not me. That's counter-intuitive to the mindset of FocalPoint.

Cognos layering the code is somewhat between master--defines/set-fex bits. It's all dispersed differently, and then there is the security and access that makes WF8 security look not-at-all-confusing/complicated... Even if you have embedded sql or calling stored proc's they won't do the same thing in Cognos just by a flick of the switch. Then if you are building cubes... yergh... I'm feeling very glad I don't need to deal with a conversion either way, though Cognos => WF is way less futzing around with the security/views/content/dimensions
Only advice I have is that you need to map everything off the FOCUS and then have a template of Cognos where you slot all the bits & pieces into. MF security should map pretty well to Cognos, but for building the views and aggregates you need to understand the old code. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Hank W.,
