Hi,
In maintain, I have a button in a form which is basically used to generate report in Excel format. On clicking this button, a fex file is invoked to generate the report. I want to make the extract password protected. i.e, On Button click, It will pop up a box to enter password. This password will be validated against database and then the report is displayed else a message 'Wrong Password' is displayed. Please suggest a workaround for this scenario.

Thanks in advance.

The password protection of an MS Excel workbook is an MS Excel function and you cannot control that from within WebFOCUS. I'm not sure whether you could protect an XHT type file within MS Excel either - you would have to check.

You could try and issue a VBScript process that opens the workbook saves it as a binary MS Excel workbook and applies the password protection, but that would need you to know how to do that within VBScript.
