First, let me state that I'm in no way skilled in the ways of WebFOCUS, so if I've overlooked something very simple or missed an answer to this in the documentation, I apologize. I've spent a couple of hours searching available documentation and looking over the forum and haven't found something that speaks to this issue (these issues).
I am using the portal / ibi_apps structure. Within the Content folder, via the Resources pane, I would like to host/serve traditional (pre-created) content in the form of .PDFs. When I upload the PDF to the content folder, whether as a Document or Image, it's then listed in the folder I uploaded it to, so far so good.
When I attempt to view that .pdf, it opens a new window with the PDF viewer from within the browser. There are the proper number of pages, but they're all blank. The 'name' of the .pdf within the viewer is views.bip.
Questions: - What do I need to do to get the .pdf to display properly? - Is there a way to change the name of the file, from the portals perspective, to something other than 'views.xxx' or servlet.xxx? This behavior of defaulting the file name to views is not limited to .pdfs. Through my testing, it seems that most file types (.docx / .pptx, etc) default to the views name, while .xlsx files retain the name of the original file uploaded. - Is there a way to change the default behavior to display the file within the browser instead of defaulting to the 'Save As' dialog box? I found no mention of changing this behavior within the documentation.
Please point me in the right direction if I'm missing something extremely basic here, or if I should break the questions above into separate issues.
Thanks in advance for any help someone can provide. (WebFOCUS 8007, Gen 56, Apache Tomcat 7.0.33)This message has been edited. Last edited by: A Fisher,

There have been various discussions on this over recent years and several methods given.
One of the ones that had a wider success rate was one from Francis in Jan 2014 - here.
It uses a redirect and therefore the documents need to exist in a web accessible location.
It can be difficult to locate older relevant posts without the correct key word(s) so it is always useful to try several. I relocated this by using "open existing pdf".

W/ re: to the question about where the files are stored: From the portal I opened the resources pane, right click on the Content folder to create a new folder to store them all, and then just right click and choose upload on that newly created folder. I then choose upload.
I'm pretty sure that would mean that they're stored on the Domain/Content Folders, though that's just an (little)educated guess.
We are currently storing them in a web accessible location, so the idea of using redirects, at least initially, would be a good step until I can find another method that's a little more graceful.
I'll post again after I've had a chance to try the method you mentioned.

I wasn't able to get the above methods to work, but have heard that this issue is 'fixed' in version 8.2 so I have stopped attempting to rectify this on our current version.
