I am trying to burst the report by number of records and I have subtotal on one BY field.
Example :I Have employee details .I am bursting the report for every 1000 records .I want subtotal on department ID.I need to ftp the burst files to some locations. I don't not want Subtotal at the end of the file if a department ID spans over next file.Say example department 'A' have 1500 records ,I dont want subtotal at the end of first file (complete since 1000 records) I just want subtotal in second file at 1500th records. I use counter as highest BY field and Department ID as next BY field.
You can't subtotal on one BY field and sort/burst on a different BY field. Since you have your primary sort on the number of records and are bursting, each burst section is its own self-contained report and doesn't know about the other parts of the report. So if a report section (first BY) ends, you get subtotals regardles of what is happening on the second BY field.

Darin
