I have a report with three sections. The first is an actual result (a number). The second section is the sequential variance. The third section is the sequential variance percentage. I have an extensive stylesheet the uses both label & column refernces. My question is ... Is there a way to use wildcard characters in a stylesheet LABEL name? In the above description The three sections would all receive the same formatting. If the LABELs were R001, V001 and S001, is there a way to use wildcard for that a single stylesheet line can be applied to all ... something like:
TYPE=REPORT, LABEL=%001, STYLE=BOLD,$
I have tried '%', '$' and '*' and have not been sucessful. I'm tring to avoid tripling the size of my stylesheet by having to have three separate lines.

Thanks.

I don't think that you can do that.

But here is a suggestion: use Dialog Manager.

TABLE FILE filename
PRINT ...
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
-*-- Non-repetitive Style Sheet code goes here ---
TYPE=REPORT, GRID=OFF, BACKCOLOR=NONE, COLOR=BLACK, SIZE=10, STYLE=NORMAL, JUSTIFY=LEFT, $
-* Repetitive Style Sheet code goes here ---
-SET &LABEL_PREFIX = 'R';
-INCLUDE STYLE_INCLUDE1
-SET &LABEL_PREFIX = 'V';
-INCLUDE STYLE_INCLUDE1
-SET &LABEL_PREFIX = 'S';
-INCLUDE STYLE_INCLUDE1

ENDSTYLE
END
-RUN

style_include1.fex would look like this:

TYPE=REPORT, LABEL=&LABEL_PREFIX.001, STYLE=BOLD, $

Of course, all this is overkill if only a couple of lines are repeated.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I agree it is overkill for only a couple of lines. But with all LABEL + COLUMN combinations I have, and repeating the 'almost' identical formatting up to five times per report, this could save thousand of lines of 'almost' duplication.

"But with all LABEL + COLUMN combinations I have" - then this will save you a lot of lines.

I have implemented Francis's suggestion and it worked well.

Thanks again.
