[CLOSED] Java issues running MRE 7.7.03 on a Mac using Safari
Good morning-

We are having trouble with users trying to run MRE 7.7.03 on a Mac using Safari. Users are able to login to MRE, but then they are suddenly getting an INACTIVE PLUGIN error. My initial thought is it's a browser issue, not necessarily a WebFocus issue. Has anyone else run into this, and what did you do to rectify?

thanks in advance-
Leanne Wood

OSX 10.7, Lion, and up do not ship with Java on fresh install and disables Java on software update. This is for security reasons, apparently.

The enabling is a manual procedure. Click on the arrow next to the Inactive Plugin message and selecting Enable. Safari will need to be restarted.

Java can also be enabled in the System Preferences Java pane. Different version of Java are slightly different in the pane layout for enabling, but it's in there somewhere. I think you will need administrative rights to do this.

This had more to do with Apple blocking java on Safari. We continue to have issues when using Safari.

thanks for your feedback.

If corporate policy allows, you might consider Firefox for the Mac to see if it works any better.
