I am trying to visualize a trend on a report. Right clicking the column containing my numeric detail, I select Visualize, complete the settings and click ok. The trend bards are visible to the right of the column selected, after running the report.

Challenge, the bars are sized based on all values in the column and not by any of the 'By' columns in the report. For instance I have a column for drug name, year label and defined daily dose. Defined daily dose being the trend visualization column.

I want to see the trend by year visualized within a drug, not across all drugs.

Trying to do this through the WebFocus Developer studio gui, and not immediately obvious. I tried selecting the group by column and ctrl select defined daily dose, right click and visualize is greyed out.

How do I go about implementing this?

Welcome to Focal Point!

When you had two columns multi-selected, Visualize was greyed out since it's only available on numeric columns.

Visualize is currently designed to display the bar graph for any numeric measure that appears in the report output, but it does not make the graph display based on another field's value.

There currently isn't a request for a New Feature for this functionality. If you'd like to request this as a New Feature, please open a case on InfoResponse Online.

An option would be to create a Coordinated Compound document with a report and graph on one page. You'll be able to control the sort fields displayed in the report and tie them to the graph.
