Hi,

I'm looking to use the HTML composer and its features (built-in form features) to build a request form page so that users can enter data and it posts to a database. I do have web experience but unfortunately not much in JavaScript (i am a PHP/HTML guy)

I would not be looking to purchase additional tools or products to complete this request and i do believe its possible as the HTML composer supports HTML/JS however i'm not sure where to start in terms of documentation.

Has anyone had a similar situation or can recommend some good documentation sites?

Please try Information Builders.

There's a hyperlink in the FocalPoint banner, "Tech Doc Search". Try looking for "Designing a User Interface for a Web Application With the HTML Composer".

Hi Francis,

I read through the documentation and it is certainly helpful setting up a form and a general dashboard however i require details on form submission to a database specifically. Do you happen to have any other recommendations to documentation?

There won't be any documentation to describe how to do what you want. There's another Information Builders product, Maintain that does what you require, however, you don't want to purchase other products.

I would design a screen in HTML Composer and give it "smarts" by using JavaScript and/or jQuery. Then upon submission of the form I would use SQL to update the database table.

Hi Francis,

Correct, there is no budget for other products like Maintain.

Do you have any documentation relating to "smarts"? i will look into JS/JQuery code to complete this.

"smarts" includes a "smart" developer with years of experience.
