If I ran the following code

-UNIX ls $pwd

How could I save the output to a hold file?

First thought is:

-UNIX ls $pwd > cmd_out.ftm

FILEDEF CMD_OUT DISK cmd_out.ftm

etc

But, why do you want to do this, there may be other ways to get what you want.

I was thinking I could parse text to see if a file was created/updated using the ls command. Would there be a more "WebFocusish" way of doing this?

I would suggest trying APP QUERY command

If the file you want to check is not in one of the APP directories, then you will need to APP MAP it.

APP QUERY {app directory} HOLD
Then
TABLE FILE FOCAPPQ
...
END

Maybe this will do the job:

-UNIX ls /path/to/your/file 1>/dev/null 2>/dev/null
-IF &EXITRC NE 0 THEN GOTO WHATEVER;

WF 7.1.6 moving to WF 7.7, Solaris 10, HTML,PDF,XL
