VMWare image - Intel i7 (4 cores) 2.70 GHz, 8GB ram. I use this config for all my other VMs with differing full installs from 7.7.03 - latest.
I also use App Studio on those VMs to remote servers around the world, I don't have performance issues beyond those expected with very remote servers and misbehaving broadband!

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU @ 3.0 Ghz Ram: 16.0 System Type - 64 Bit O/S
Typically no issues on the App Studio side, but I do have to make sure and reboot our client and reporting server machines weekly otherwise we do get bogged down and App Studio likes to freeze and shut down.

No problems running App Studio. What the RAM really is needed for is when you're juggling larger data-sets in a web-browser at the data design stage of a report (although with IE 20GB hardly matters, it breaks far before that).

It's not a laptop but an older HP Z220 desktop that we requested more RAM for. They come with 4GB by default, but with 2 free slots that we filled with a couple of 8GB sticks.
Reason for the RAM is that we had to support several versions of IE, which would only really have been possible by running VM's, but that ended up nowhere as we never got the extra licenses for the Windows instances for those VM's... As a consequence, we chose the easier path of not supporting older versions of IE anymore :P
