Hi,

if we run the following code :

-DEFAULT &WORD = 'españa';

SQL SQLORA
select upper('&WORD') word from dual;
TABLE ON TABLE HOLD AS 'HOLDTXT' FORMAT ALPHA
END

TABLE FILE HOLDTXT
PRINT WORD
END


If we run it the text editor , it works
if we run it outside of the text editor
it replaces the n in a upsidedown question mark

any idea why???

Peter,

Are you running in Dev Studio (I reckon so but want to check). If you are then goto "windows/options" and ensure that "save data as ANSI" is checked, then retry.

It may not be the problem but I have seen this before with the Euro character (€ : alt-0128).
