Will there be lines numbers in the text editing tools of Application Studio? If there is legally embedded JavaScript in an HTML Composer GUI designed page and there is an error, getting a line number in the error doesn't help when the line number isn't available in the text editor.
Cheers,
Francis

Line number and column number appear in the lower right corner of the Text Editor in Developer Studio. The same should be in Application Studio.
Is that what you are referring to?

David, In Dev Studio release 7.7.03, the line number and column number in the message bar at the bottom of the screen disappear after HTML Composer is opened. They do not return after HTML Composer is closed.

David, "Line number and column number appear in the lower right corner of the Text Editor in Developer Studio" - perhaps they should, but they unfortunately don't - not when I open a fex in the text editor. Neither if I open an html page in the text editor, or after opening one in HTML Composer and then switching to the HTML tab. I have DevStudio v7.7.03 HF5. I've seen this same behaviour in v7.7.02 and possibly other versions.

Francis, The line number does appear for the text editor in the lower right hand corner of Dev studio, not the corner of the text editor. Sometimes it disappears and dev studio needs to be restarted (like what Dan said about opening HTML Composer). HTML Composer does not have line numbers in text mode, it only has the coordinates when using the design tab.

The blurb in the V8.0.01 release notes doesn't indicate much change.
quote:
* Developer Studio: The development environment continues to evolve, featuring integration with Release 8.0.01 architecture and many incremental developer enhancements.
The issue of the line number and column number disappearing after opening an HTML page was resolved recently.
Francis,
I have no idea why you would not see this display in the lower right corner unfortunately.

I don't have any idea either. I'm not sure if this worth opening a case for, I have to take your word that I am the only one complaining. Except, there are several Focalpoint posts about this over the last couple of years and several of my current colleagues have the same issue - absolutely no line numbers. Is it the version of Java installed on our PCs? I have absolutely no idea.

The Text Editor has no connection to Java, so that would not affect it. Cases should be open for any issue so it can be addressed. If no case gets opened, it does not stay active for attention.
Waz,
I do not know the release fixed, but I suggest you contact Support Services and they can tell you.
