Below is a simple code replication of what exactly i need...

-SET &ECHO=ALL;

TABLE FILE CAR
LIST
CAR
COUNTRY
MODEL
LENGTH
ON TABLE HOLD AS CARD
END
-RUN

TABLE FILE CARD
PRINT
CAR
COUNTRY
MODEL
LENGTH
BY HIGHEST LIST
END
-EXIT

This was working fine in the version 7.6.10

But we upgraded to 7.7.02

and the same is not working instead it gives the error
the fieldname is not recognized: highest

Can anyone help me with this.

What do you mean by that?

The above hold file card gives the report with the list from 1 to 18 ...and now in the second report i wanted to reverse the list...I mean the final output should print from 18 to 1 ..

The most probable reason for that is code tightening. In fact, the LIST word is a reserved keyword, and should therefor not be used. You can work around this by specifying BY HIGHEST E01 (which is the LIST field).

You could place a ? HOLD CARD after the first query to see the name given to the LIST column in the HOLD file.

LIST is always the first field after the BY's. So if you have no BY's it is E01, if you have 4 BY's then it is E05.

Assuming the generated field is still call "LIST" -- the parsing algorithm was apparently changed so that LIST is interpreted as a verb, despite its being the name of a field.

To force it to refer to the LIST column, just qualify it -- in this case,
BY HIGHEST CARD.CARD.LIST

Hi Prasad,

Our internals viewed this topic and suggested that this looks like an issue to be fixed by programming, have you got a chance to open a case? If so, would you mind to send me the case number via a private message? If not, please contact Customer Support Services for a case. You may either call at 1-800-736-6130, or access online at InfoResponse.

Cheers,

Kerry
