Hello,

Is it possible to read an Excel file that is on a shared drive of a remote Windows Server?

We are able to read the file if is direcly on the Windows server, but if the ODBC connection is pointing to an Excel file on a shared drive, on that server, we get the following error when I run the report:


(FOC1394) CONNECT FAILURE
(FOC1400) SQLCODE IS -5036 (HEX FFFFEC54)
: [S1000] Microsoft] [ODBC Excel Driver] Failure creating file
[IM006] [Microsoft] [ODBC Driver Manager] Driver''s SQLSetConnectAttr failed
L (FOC1406) SQL OPEN CURSOR ERROR.
(FOC1400) SQLCODE IS 1394 (HEX: 00000572)
: CONNECT FAILURE
L (FOC1406) SQL OPEN CURSOR ERROR. :MANUALREFUNDSTHIRD$

Is it ODBC that is having the problem ?

Could it be an authority issue on the network drive ?

It's a common problem for any odbc source such as Excel or Access.

The best solution is to have the file on the server, however that is not always practical.

The issue is probabley the accounts used for your web server & WebFOCUS server.

They need to be a domain accounts that have authorization against the shared drive.
