Generating metadata with the WebFOCUS Server Console
I have a DB2 schema with 160 tables. I would like to use the WebFOCUS Server Console to generate meta-data (MAS and ACX) for all the tables.

When I enter the Owner Name in the Filter on the Select Synonym Candidates screen, the complete list of tables is displayed, but the check-box to select all the tables (the check-box to the left of "Default Synonym Name") is not displayed. If I also filter on Table Name, a shorter list is displayed and the check-box to select all the tables is displayed.

It appears that the decision to display the check-box is based on some arbitrary number. Or is this a bug?

This makes generating meta-data from the Console quite impractical.

I am writing instructions on how to generate meta-data and I don't know how I'm going to explain that each check-box has to be individually checked, instead of checking a global one.

It appears that this is new functionality in 5.3.4. The solution is to use the filtering options.

This is not practical at all. Either we click on each of the check boxes individually, or come up with a set of filtering values that would encompass all the tables.

Francis,

I think you'll have to be patient. It works in 7.1, so I guess we would have to call it a bug. It makes it easier explaining it.

Hkan, I used "bug" in the case I opened with IBI. The response was "it's functionality"! The reason given was that with over 125 tables, the meta-data generation would take a while. It has been my experience that with lots of tables, it still takes less than 5 minutes, so I think this "functionality" was a little misguided. It's good that it's back in 7.1.

Cheers,

Francis.
