ODBC vs Adapter
Can anyone point me in the direction of information that outlines the difference between connecting with ODBC vs connecting with a purchased adapter ? Especially for Oracle and DB2. The IBI sales guy says the adapter provides better performance but the ODBC is free and and both Oracle and DB2 can be used via ODBC. We'd like more details because of the additional cost for the adapters.

I'd also be curious to hear who uses what ...... ODBC or Adapters ......

Does anyone use Oracle via ODBC...... ?

You will also lose the ability to issue native SQL. If you already have native SQL for DB2 or Oracle, you will not be able to use that SQL in WebFOCUS using ODBC.

Another thing that I am aware of, that another customer told me when they used the ODBC adapter for MS SQL, is that it does not support timedate fields.

Thanks for the input - managment sees it being an extra cost ..... they don't care if I can't do timedate fields..... so I suppose I'm going ODBC......

Thanks again
