I am going to make a change to the server tonight to start WebFOCUS Server process (LDAP security) and ReportCaster process as Windows Services instead of Command Line processes. My goal in this is to eliminate having to log the machine in as a user to allow the processes to run. I want this to effectively run from the login screen. Also, we are using the MRREALM driver.
I am thinking that I want to simply go through the 'Start > Programs > Information Builders > WebFocus 76 Server768p > Stop (runs: C:\ibi\srv76\wfs768p\bin\edastart.bat -stop)' and 'Start > Programs > Information Builders > ReportCaster 768 > Distribution Server > Stop Distribution Server (command line) (runs: C:\ibi\ReportCaster768\bin\stopit.bat). and then go to the Services Control Panel and set 'WebFOCUS 76 Server 768p' and 'ReportCaster 768' to 'automatic' mode and restart the machine. I can get away with the restart, but I want to simulate a shutdown/restart to make sure it works as intended.
Any insight/suggestions to this approach?
