The IBI guys showed up and installed WebFocus on our dedicated development and production boxes and our dedicated WebServer. I have used WebFocus to generate a coulple of reports (complete with HTML launch pages) but am unsure as to how to make them available via the web to a testing group. Like I said, with respect to the WebServer, it is a fresh install running Apache Tomcat. By mapping to it, I see one directory, Jakarta Isapi Redirector with three subdirectories : bin, conf, log. The bin subdirectory has the .dll file isapi_redirect.dll and the conf subdirectory has what the Apache documentation tells me is sample files for setting up workers. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Yes, there is a subfolder called Managed Reporting under both the Development and Production environments.

start with creating some users and publishing some of your reports
create a domain in MRE
copy your reports there

start
http://servername/ibi_apps/bid

then you will get a logon screen.

and maybe RTFM.....

Sounds reasonable.
I have created a domain, and the "http://severname..." part is cool (logged in as 'admin'), but have a few more questions:
1)How do I create a generic user in order to demo the reports and
2)which part of the report do I copy over and to where? My reports have an HTML prompt page along with the procedure.
Basically, when it comes to WebFocus, we are a one-man shop and I am a database developer that has been provided with limited training and a short time frame. I appreciate your patience.
Thanks

Rich,

Sounds like you're on to a very steep learning curve.

The best advice that I can offer is to download the relevant manuals in either compiled windows help files or PDF and keep them VERY close.

One starting manual should be the security manual followed by the MRE Admin manual. Once you have digested these I would suggest the core language manual or the MRE users guide.

I would also suggest that if your company want you to be productive then they should not skimp on training and also provide additional support for you in the form of a specialist AP. What would happen if you just upped and left one day? They should ensure that the knowledge is not held by one person.

Just a few thoughts .........

I fully supports Tony's thought.

We started two years a go with some courses for my fellow builders and for two technicians to get and keep the servers running.
Within a year one of the technicians left and my fellow builders got within the company an other job.
I'm happy I found a young starter who is willing to learn the job, but that sets me (and the company) a half year back.
To get all the knowledge via FP from the start will be to complex.
You need screen shots, examples etc. but above all a plan....what you and the company want to achieve.

Tony - Frank,

Thanks guys. Yeah, The MicroStrategy background I have doesn't count for jack with this tool. I am making it somewhat easier on myself by doing all of the database work up front and dumping a table that closely resembles the report I create from it, but the "publish to the web" thing is not as easy as dropping a few HTML pages out on a webserver somewhere and turning the users loose on them.
Got the create user thing down - at lease at a level that will allow me to let the demo group have a look, and hacked around long enough to figure out how to publish the reports to the default dashboard in Managed Reporting (thanks for the ibi_apps/dib piece, Frank).
Yeah, steep curve.
Thanks guys. I appreciate your help. I am off to add to my growing stack of documentation.
