We use a table to store keywords for reports and there is a translation code for each language. We retrieve all data in the table based on the languageID and then save them as amper variables to be used in a report. This works great for most languages. It completely chokes when I use this process for Chinese. Has anyone had to define Chinese for column headings, report titles, etc? Our process loops thru the table and assigns amper variables for every keyword.

Hi Laurie,

Chinese language is sometimes very difficult and there are a few versions. This one probably
requires a case with support to move forward. To open a case, you may either call at 1-800-736-6130, or access online at InfoResponse.

Laurie,

Remember that Chinese (along with Korean and Japanese) are double-byte characters. Each chinese character takes up 2 characters of space in "regular text". I'm not sure if CTRAN knows about double-byte characters, but you may also be passing "nonsense" values to your &Vars.

What encoding is your WebFOCUS client and server set to?
