I am running a procedure Mon - Fri at 7am, creating a DB2 table, with the following code:
SQL DB2 DROP TABLE LIBRARY1/FIELNAME1 CASCADE END TABLE FILE HOLD20 PRINT FIELD5 FIELD6 FIELD7 BY FIELD1 BY FIELD2 BY FIELD3 BY FIELD4 ON TABLE HOLD AS FILENAME1 FORMAT DB2 END
I want to append to this table instead of drop. I've tried changing 'DROP' to 'MODIFY', but that didn't work (too easy). Suggestions? This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,
WebFOCUS 768 OS/400 HTML, also quite a few active reports and excel.
ON TABLE HOLD will first remove an existing table (if there is one) and then create the new table and fill it with the results of the request. That's just the way it's supposed to work, since it can't know that an already existing table has the same structure. What Frnacis says is the only way to append. Hold it to a fix format, and use MODIFY to add that data to the DB2 table.
