Perhaps I am not looking hard enough, but the only documentation on this command that I found was:
Multiselect BY where you can choose multiple values from a list of vertical sort values.

This is used when you create a variable whose values will be field names that the end user will select from to use as sort fields. It will generate: BY FIELD1 BY FIELD2 and so on.
