This may be a long shot, but here goes. Our main production system uses ADABAS as a data source and Natural as the main language. We are producing a letter currently in that system (output to a mainframe printer queue) that we would like to generate from WF, but need a way to trigger the generation of the WF report from Natural (or COBOL called by Natural) as soon as the production user indicates that the data is ready for output. I was wondering if anyone has successfully used ReportCaster or the API to have a one-time-only job inserted in ReportCaster and then having RC distribute the report to a printer.
We've looked at using a flag in ADABAS and having an RC job that checks to see if a record has been flagged for output. The problem with this is that the user expects output within 1-2 minutes and if we're having RC check that often, the log tables in RC grow at an enormous rate.
Any other ideas?
