[SOLVED] Question: Can MVS WebFOCUS 7.1.7 run against a unicode Table?
We have a customer who is migrating a table to OneData which is Unicode table. Their current table is a non-unicode table. If they modify their table to be unicode enabled, Will they have to make changes to their FOCEXEC or will it be transparent? The only thing I can think of if they have any functions in their code such as BYTVAL or HEXBYT etc., will have to be modified to use unicode versus ebcdic.

ANSWER:
Important: Operating systems that use EBCDIC code pages (z/OS, OS/390, MVS, and VM for mainframe; i5/OS for midrange; and OS/390 OpenEdition) do not support Unicode. Unicode is an ASCII/ANSI-transparent code page architecture; EBCDIC is not. Unicode does not exist for these platforms. Therefore, do not configure UTF-8 Unicode code page 65001 for a data source on any EBCDIC platform. Similarly, do not assign EBCDIC code pages on ASCII platforms (Windows and UNIX).

Thanks!
