if region_id is in the same row in your source data, its easy. If its not, then put it there and use noprint if you don't want to display it. TABLE FILE CAR ... BY REGION_ID NOPRINT BY REGION_NAME ... now REGION_ID is included in the report's internal matrix, just not displayed. now in your drilldown on REGION_NAME , you can pass whatever vars you want from that row, visible or not visibile, and / or you can pass &var current settings like this:
TYPE=DATA,COLUMN=REGION_NAME, FOCEXEC=CHILDREPORT(REGION=REGION_NAME \ REGION_ID = REGION_ID \ SOMEOTHERVAR = '&SOMEOTHERVAR' ), COLOR=.... ... it'll work like a charm.
