I have a report that takes about two minutes to run, attached to a portal tab where there's a list of reports on the left and an output page on the right. Everything functions correctly.

But, when you click on the Run button that spinny graphic with the gray background only stays on the screen for about twelve seconds. All is running properly, but the end-user has no indication that the report is still working on a successful run. It gives the appearance that the server has crapped out.

Here's the question -- is there a longer spinny graphic, or a way to loop the current spinny graphic, so that the user knows to continue to wait?

By the way, a very smart person told me to check on the Reporting Server when the spinny wheely thingie comes to an end. The report is indeed still running, still in DBMS Call status. So this isn't a matter of the output packaging slowly for return to the client.

The question I have to ask is: Why does the report take two minutes to run?

Is the data source a database?

It's a tough report on a huge amount of data. I'm happy with the two minutes.

The users run it once a month or so, so that's not an issue.

You could run the report in a Chrome browser and hit F12. There may be some messages in the Console area that might let you know what's going on.
