The MR tools -- do they provide you with the ability to configure each file separately or are you configuring your entire MR as a unit? I'll confess that I haven't gone into detail on them because they appear to be a sort of bulk-loader utility. Is that not the case?

The change management utility lets you select 1 specific focexec or as many as needed for a specific project. Normally our developers create the change extract and then our change management group does the load. When the load runs it places the code/foxecec in the same structure as it was extracted from in our test environment. So all domain names and standard report groups and focexec names are consistent between our environments.

Do you feel the MRE Change Management tool is really a Change Management tool, when all it can do is help migrate code from one environment to another - it does not manage code changes in the same environment?

Give me code, or give me retirement. In FOCUS since 1991
Production: WF 7.7.05M, Dev Studio, BID, MRE, WebSphere, DB2 / Test: WF 8.1.05M, App Studio, BI Portal, Report Caster, jQuery, HighCharts, Apache Tomcat, MS SQL Server
No, it is a piece of it. We have various version control methods in place in our development environments. Then use the mre tools to move from development to User testing environment and then from there to production. We keep the various files created by the utility for a time period in case we need to roll back to the old version of the code. It would be nice if IBI would allow for versioning and we have requested it.
